This traditional Afrikaans Mealie Brood is easy to make and makes the perfect braai (BBQ) side. This bread also works really well with our special braai BBQ sauce as a dip. If you’re after a hearty carb, look no further!

Mealie Bread (Mielie Brood)
Parsley, Bayleef, Thyme for boeuf bourguigon


  • 30ml Sugar
  • 30ml Flour
  • 30ml Melted Butter
  • 5ml Baking Powder
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Tin Creamed Sweetcorn

Step by Step Instructions

Pre-heat oven to 180°C, and grease an ovenproof dish.

Place all ingredients in a bowl & mix until smooth.

Pour into dish & bake for 1 hour at 180°C.
